    The Wildheartsザ・ワイルドハーツ

    デヴィッド・ウォールズことジンジャー率いるザ・ワイルドハーツ。アイドル・ハード・ロック・バンド、クワイア・ボーイズに加入したもののあまりに激しいギター・プレイとその大酒飲みっぷりを理由に解雇され、89年にザ・ワイルドハーツを結成。91年、ヴォーカリストの脱退を受けてジンジャー自身がヴォーカル＆ギターを担当する。93年には１stアルバム『アースVSワイルドハーツ』を発表。不良魂を満々とたたえながら、パンキッシュでメロディ・オリエンテッドなギター・ロックを繰り広げ、一躍人気を博す。以降、度重なるメンバーの解雇・脱退を繰り返しながら、『P.H.U.Q』（95年）、『フィッシング・フォー・モア・ラッキーズ』（96年）といったアルバムを世に送り出していく。その後ベスト・アルバムを挟み、よりカオティックでヘヴィなサウンドに接近した『エンドレス、ネームレス』を97年にリリースするも、この時点でメンバーのドラッグ問題や不仲説などがメディアを飛び交い、ジンジャーがバンドの活動停止を宣言。——と思いきや、親日家の彼は日本ツアーを敢行したり、日本限定盤『トーキョー・スーツ・ミー（ライヴ・アット・ブリッツ1998）』（99年）を発表するなど、破天荒な活動をみせる。
    01年には１stアルバム・リリース後の最強最狂メンバー、CJ（g／ex.ハニー・クラック＆ジェリーズ）、ダニー（b／ザ・ヨーヨーズ）、リッチ（dr）という編成で再結成を果たし、日本ツアーを計画するも、ダニーの入院により中止に。そして、02年夏、サマーソニック'02出演が決定！　久々にその狂いっぷりを目にすることが出来た。
