    ラップ界で最もユニークなサウンドを誇るサイプレス・ヒルは、91年のアルバム『サイプレス・ヒル』で鮮烈なデビューを飾った。B・リアルの型破りなラップとセン・ドッグの特異なバック・ヴォーカル、DJマグスの膨大なループ・コレクション——そして言うまでもなく、マリファナ愛好を唱える歌詞で幅広いファンを獲得。ヒット・アルバムを立て続けに発表したあと、彼らはやっとファンのリクエストに応え、完全なスペイン語アルバムを発表した。ヒット曲集を改訂した最新アルバムは、まるでテレビの副音声機能の如く、お馴染みの曲に異なった言語を乗せている。
    05年現在、彼らの最新作は『ティル・デス・ドゥ・アス・パート』（04年）である。このアルバムでサイプレス・ヒルはストリクトリーなファンに忠実な作風、“スモーキーで不穏で少しロッキッシュなサイプレス・サウンド”を改めて世に示した。その一方で、ランシドのティム・アームストロングを「ホワッツ・ユア・ナンバー？」でゲスト招聘するなど、新しい試みも多く作中に織り交ぜた。
