    House of Painハウス・オブ・ペイン

    怒鳴りつけるようなラップを見せるエヴァーラスト、畳みかけるようなライミングを得意とするダニー・ボーイ、そして、ハイ・レヴェルなトラック群を作り出すDJリーサル（現在はリンプ・ビズキットのメンバーとして活躍中）からなる白人ラップ・トリオ、ハウス・オブ・ペイン（もとは高校の同級生同士だったとか）。彼らを強烈に印象づけたのは、デビュー・アルバム『ハウス・オブ・ペイン』（92年）からのシングル・カット「ジャンプ・アラウンド」だ。“ジャンプ・アラン！”と激しく連呼されるキャッチーなフックと軽快なトラックがウケ、日本のフロアも大いに沸かせた。また、その後に発表した２nd『セイム・アズ・イット・エヴァー・ワズ』（94年）と３rd『トゥルース・クラッシュド・トゥ・アース・シャル・ライズ・アゲイン』（96年）では、ロサンゼルスを拠点としながらもイーストコースト・フレイヴァーたっぷりの太いサウンドを響かせた。
    その熱気溢れる楽曲群で、当初は多くの男性ファンを獲得していたが、楽曲自体にそれほど変化がなかったことでリスナーが食傷気味となったためか、人気は徐々に失速。96年に解散。それ以降はそれぞれソロや別グループでキャリアを積んでいる。
