    オリンピアの老舗インディー・レーベル＜K＞を主宰するキャルヴィン・ジョンソン。彼が率いるゴッタ煮系ローファイ・ユニットがダブ・ナルコティック・サウンド・システムだ。70sファンク／ディスコのフレイヴァを独自の解釈で再構築したような音を鳴らす彼ら。確かにその音楽は、アフリカ系アメリカンが奏でるホンモノのファンクとはほど遠いモノである。しかし、ローテクな演奏と奇想天外なアイディアを武器に、まったくもって唯一無比なグルーヴを獲得／拡散しているところがスゴイところ。特に96年作『ブート・パーティ』は凄まじい名盤だ。必聴！
