    ヒップホップの勢力図にはまったく名前の出てこない、ロッキー山脈の東側に位置するコロラド州はコロラド・スプリングス出身の３人組＝ザ・プロカッションズ。04年リリースの日本独自企画盤『アップ・オールナイト』でのジャジーな生演奏を主体としたスタイルが話題となった彼らだが、その後レーベルを新生＜Rawkus＞へと移籍。06年リリースの２ndアルバム『ファイヴ・スパローズ・フォー・トゥー・センツ』では、より多彩となったサウンドに、軽快かつタイトなラップを披露。疾走感溢れるラウドなファンキー・ビーツから、フェンダー・ローズの柔らかな音色が敷き詰められたメロウなジャジー・ナンバーまで、ポジティブで真面目なヒップホップに対する姿勢と、ニュー・スクールの流れを汲む自由な遊び心がガッチリと合体した快作だ。
