    ハリウッドをベースとするフォーク・トリオ、The Limelitersは、滑らかなハーモニーにのせて、軽やかな政治風刺とジェネラルなユーモアをアメリカの陽のあたる場所に持ち出すことに成功した。Glenn YarbroughのテナーとAlex Hassilevの堅実なバリトンに助けられ、「A Dollar Down」（61年）はグループにとって最大のヒットとなった。ポピュラー・ミュージック全体がが、より扇情的に、より刺激的にという方向に走り始めると、The Limelitersは教養のある皮肉屋、素朴な合唱好きタイプのどちらにとっても、エンターテイメントとして満足のいく、よりシンプルで楽しいアメリカ像を描き出した。Yarbroughがロッド・マッキューンのメロドラマティックな海辺の思索家グループのもとに走ったため、63年にバンドは解散。もうひとりのオリジナル・メンバーLou Gottliebは最初期のサン・フランシスコのコミューンであるMorning Star Ranchを結成した。
