    Innocence Missionは89年にデビューした時、すぐさま10,000マニアックスと一緒くたにされ、あまり注目も集めなかった。しかし、Karen Perisのヴォーカルが純粋な美しさと孤独を表現する「Wonder of Birds」は、本来ならもっとラジオ局で流れるべき傑作シングルだった。Karen Perisの成熟した詩的な歌詞、そしてバンドのよどみないアコースティック演奏は、歯切れのよすぎるプロダクション工程によって本来の魅力を発揮できなかったのだ。しかし、その後リリースされたアルバムにおいて、余計なプロダクションを排除することで格段に面白いサウンドを作り出す。まだ幅広いオーディエンスを獲得するには至ってないものの、既に批評家たちの間では高い評価を得ているのだ。
