    The Aggrovatorsジ・アグロヴェーターズ

    アグロヴェーターズとは、ロック・ステディ時代から名を馳せる名プロデューサー、バニー・リーが、レコーディングのために集めたセッション・バンドに付けた名前。よって、メンバーは流動的であったが、アグロヴェーターズ名義のアルバムにクレジットされているミュージシャンは、ロビー・シェイクスピア（ベース）、カールトン"サンタ"デイヴィス（ドラム）、アール"チナ"スミス（リード・ギター）、アンセル・コリンズ（ピアノ）、バーナード・ハーヴェイ（オルガン）、トニー・チン（ギター）、ボビー・エリス（トランペット）、ヴィン・ゴードン（トロンボーン）、トミー・マクック（テナー・サックス）、レノックス・ブラウン（アルト・サックス）ら錚々たる顔ぶれ。このメンツなら間違いなし！　と言ってもいいほど、当時旬のミュージシャンを集めたこのグループは、タイト＆クールなサウンドをダンス・シーンに送りだしたのだ。
    またバニー・リーは70年代半ばに、当時隆盛を誇っていたアメリカのディスコ・ビートに反応して作り出した"フライング・シンバルズ"サウンドで注目を集める。その頃リリースされたシングル盤では、ヴォーカルの入ったA面の人気もさることながら、アグロヴェーターズのプレイするB面のインストゥルメンタル（キング・タビーが手がけたダブも最高！）も好評を博し、彼らの名は一躍シーン最前線に躍り出たのであった。
