    UKロック界きってのブライテスト・ホープ、スターセイラー。01年にシーンに登場した途端、そのおそるべし「泣きの美メロ」で多くの支持者を獲得。最近パッとしない、と言われる“ギター・ロック”を正真正銘担う存在と断言していいだろう。
    カレッジの音楽コースで出逢ったことをきっかけに、ジェイムズ・ウォルシュ（vo/g）、ベン・バーン（dr）、バリー・ウェストヘッド（key）、ジェイムズ・ステルフォックス（b）の４人でバンドを結成。決して派手ではないが、心奥を瞬殺するようなウォルシュの耽美なメロディは、みるみるうちに業界中の話題に——。彼らの３rdシングル「Alcoholic」はついにUKチャート・トップ10にランクインし、デビュー早々老舗の音楽誌『NME』のカヴァーまで飾るという快挙を成し遂げたのであった。
    なにはともあれ１stアルバム『ラヴ・イズ・ヒア』を手にしてほしい。徹頭徹尾、純粋に「いいメロディ」だけが並び、そのすべてに現代的ロマンチシズムと無限大に広がる可能性が満ちている。ましてや、こんな素晴らしいメロディを描く男がまだ20歳だなんて……素敵すぎる驚きである。
