    Ralph Mooreラルフ・ムーア

    イギリス出身の黒人テナー・マン、ラルフ・ムーア。56年生まれの彼は、既に中堅どころのプレイヤーだ。いかにも木管といった、ふくよかで温かみのある音色で、昨今のメインストリーム・ジャズ・シーンを闊歩している。また、ホレス・シルヴァーのバンドに在籍していた経験をもつ彼は、ファンキー路線も大得意。そのプレイは、今は亡きハンク・モブレーやスタンリー・タレンタインを彷彿とさせるものだ。特に93年発表の『ビー・ヒップ』では、水を得た魚のように活き活きとブロウするムーアが発見できる。
