    バタラの澄んだパワフルな声は、若いころのリンダ・ロンシュタットを思わせる。ここにもメキシカンのルーツを忘れないシンガーがまた一人いたわけだ。といってもロンシュタットのようにジャンルをあちこち飛び回るわけではなくて、アメリカとメキシコのフォークやポップをミックスして、継ぎ目のまったくない彼女だけのスタイルを作り出した。ジョーン・バエズのフォーク、ボニー・レイットのソウル、k.d.ラングのスピード感などが一緒になってうまれた歌は、オリジナルかつ感動的と、かなり評判がいい。
