    Memphis Minnieメンフィス・ミニー

    天性の美貌と色気タップリの歌唱、卓越したギター・プレイで一世を風靡したブルース・ウーマン。
    1894年ルイジアナ州に生まれ、10代の頃よりメディスン・ショウに加わり南部を巡業して廻った。20年代はメンフィス、30年代にはシカゴに拠点を移し、大戦を挟んで260曲以上もの録音を残した。その長いキャリアの中でもハイライトはやはり33〜38年のシカゴ時代。カントリー・ガールらしさはそのままに、力強くそして非常に洗練されたシティ・ブルースが魅力だ。
    私生活でも恋多き女として有名で、ケイシー・ビル・ウェルデン、ジョー・マッコイ、リトル・サン・ジョーと、３人のブルース・マンとの結婚生活を送った。
    73年、メンフィスにて死去。
