    パンク界屈指のクレイジー・ギタリスト。キャプテン・センシブルがダムドのメンバーであることは言うまでもないだろう。トレード・マークの丸メガネとベレー帽、そしてスカートやパジャマを着て、クネクネとステージ上を動き回る姿はコミカルで面白い。
    82年に、バンド活動と並行してリリースした１stソロ・アルバム『キャプテンズ・ファースト』は、グルーヴィンなディスコ・チューンからザ・ビートルズの流れを汲むブリティッシュ・トラッドな佳曲までを並べた好作品である。なかでも、古〜いラヴ・ロマンス映画『南太平洋』の挿入歌をカヴァーしたシングル・カット曲「ハッピー・トーク」はUKヒット・チャートでNo.１を記録した。また、84年の「ワン・クリスマス・カタログ」は、女の子の「メリー・クリスマ〜ス♪」という可愛らしい声で始まるメルヘンチックで温かい雰囲気のアットホームなクリスマス・ナンバーに仕上げている。その後もコンスタントに作品を発表するが、それほど目立った活躍はみせていない。——が、時折行われるダムドの再結成ライヴでは、年甲斐もなくイカレたギター・プレイを披露している。
