    シカゴ新世代音響エモ・バンド、ジョーン・オブ・アーク。青春の煌めきをもつフォーキーなメロと、先達トータスにも通じる"不協和が育む美"が展開される彼らの曲は、エモのもつ初期衝動の爆発をそのまま体現している。音数を減らすことで隙間のある静謐な世界を形作り、それをギター・ノイズやインプロヴィゼーションにより暴力的に破壊する——といったところだろうか。
    Cap'n Jazz解散後、ティム・キンセラ（vo&g）とマイケル・キンセラ（g&b&dr）が中心となり結成（ちなみに同じバンドで活動していたデヴェイ・ヴァンボーレンはプロミス・リングを結成している）。97年に＜JADE TREE＞から１stアルバム『A Portable Model of Joan of Arc』を発表し、00年には傑作の呼び声も高い『ザ・ギャップ』をリリース——シカゴ新世代の旗頭として活躍している。
