    Bobby "Blue" Blandボビー・ブランド

    B.B.キングと共にモダン・ブルースの開祖として知られるボビー・ブランド。ゴスペル仕込みのハードな唱法で、ブルース・ヴォーカルの何たるかを体現したシャウターである。
    その黄金期は50年代初頭から70年代まで続いた＜デューク＞時代。ストレートなブルースからダンサブルなR&Bチューンまでを自在に歌いこなすが、その真骨頂はやはり苦みばしったスロウ・ブルースにあるだろう。武骨で不器用な男の生き様を熱く歌う様には泣けてくること間違いなし。
    60年代にはR&B／ブルースのトップ・アクトの地位に登りつめたブランドであるが、70年代もそのまま走りつづけ、80年代には＜マラコ＞で第二の黄金時代を迎えることとなった。以降、現在までコンスタントにアルバムを発表し、第一線で活躍しつづけている。
