    スワン・シルヴァートーンズはゴスペル・グループの中でも最も偉大なグループのひとつだろう。30年代に活動をはじめたが、本当に自分たちの音を確立したのは50年代。R＆Bを原形とするサウンドに、複雑なジャズのハーモニーとゲスト・ミュージシャンの音をミックスしていったのである。サム・クックはスワン・シルバートーンズから強い影響を受けており、ポール・サイモンの「明日に架ける橋」も彼らからインスピレーションを得ているという。魂を解き放つ美しい、そして思わずステップを踏みたくなるようなこのサウンドは、聴いているとほんとうに天国に近づけるような気がしてくる。
