    ヴィクトリア・ウィリアムスの土臭さが気に入るかどうかはともかくとして、彼女の作曲家としての才能は疑いの余地がない。ソロ・デビュー作『ハッピー・カム・ホーム』は当時盛り上がりつつあったアメリカーナ・ミュージックの支持者たちの間で高く評価された。彼女のソウルフルな曲と、エキセントリックなハイトーン・ヴォーカルはニール・ヤングに感銘を与え、おかげで92年にはヤングのツアーでオープニング・アクトを務めることになった。今日のフォーク歌手の多くとは違い、ウィリアムスはシンガー・ソングライターというスタイルに必要とされる、どこかもったいぶった華やかさとは無縁だった。彼女はむしろアメリカーナ音楽界において、自分自身に影響を与えたアーティストたちに逆に影響を与えるクリス・クリストファーソンのような存在だ。今日、ウィリアムスはアメリカ西部のハイ・デザート地方に居を構え、難病の多発性硬化症と闘っているが、その一方、夫のマーク・オルセン（元ジェイホークス）と一緒に、オリジナル・ハーモニー・リッジ・クリーク・ディッパーズというフォークっぽいルーツ・ミュージック・バンドで音楽活動を続けている。
