    60年代にアルバート・キングのバックでドラムスを叩きながらギターについて学んだと思われるサン・シールズは、男らしくてソウルフルなヴォーカルが魅力的だが、彼の評価を決定づけたのはやはりそのギター・プレイだ。彼のプレイは生々しく粗野な感じすら与えるもので、突き刺すようなエネルギーに満ちあふれている。シールズは速弾きも得意としているが、「基本に忠実に」といったところはまったくない。聴こえてくる音はきわめて情感的なものであり、彼の気持ちがストレートにギターから伝わってくるようだ。
