Simple Mindsシンプル・マインズ
77年に粗削りでグラムっぽいニューウェーブ・バンドとしてスタートしてから、現在のオルタナティヴ・ロックに至るまで、シンプル・マインズは頻繁に自分達のサウンドを変えながら、ドラマティックな傾向と深く複雑な面を持ち続けてきた。ジム・カーのヴォーカルは生粋のパンクにありがちなシャウトから感情の込もったものまで、いとも簡単に変化する。一方、他のメンバーはギターのひずみをサックスのリードにからませたり、ゴスペルのように響くヴォーカルをシンセポップなキーボードにからませたりする。シンプル・マインズのサウンドシフトにおけるこの思い切ったアプローチは、いつも他のバンドにいい刺激を与えている。
