    メンバーの中にXTCやギャング・オブ・フォーといったニューウェイヴを代表するバンドの出身者がいることから、シュリークバックがアーティストとしての知性とニューウェイヴのポップさをうまく組み合わせることができたのも不思議ではない。
    85年「ネメシス」で初期のオルタナ・チャートに登場し、翌年リリースされた『ビッグナイト・ミュージック』では、さらにソウルフルな実験的要素を加味するとともに、オルタナ・ロック成分をいい具合に配合している。また、『ガンニング・フォー・ザ・ブッダ』では、にじみ出てくるダークなリズムや弛緩したメロディなども聴かせてくれる。
    彼らは90年代もリリースを続けたが、結局どのアルバムも、80年代にシュリークバック自身や他のミュージシャンたちを駆り立てたようなニューウェーヴ／ファンクの融合を実現することは残念ながらできなかったようだ。
