    彼のサウンドの特徴は、フォークやカントリーにポップをクロスオーヴァーさせたもので、適度に土臭く、適度にAOR的。だからこそ「Take Me Home, Country Roads（カントリー・ロード）」を始め、「Sunshine On My Shoulders（太陽に背を向けて）」「Thank God I'm a Country Boy（素晴らしきカントリー・ボーイ）」「I'm Sorry」など、カントリー・ファンだけでなくポップ・フィールドも巻き込んだ特大ヒットが生まれたのだろう。
    97年に飛行機事故で帰らぬ人となるが、彼がこの世に残したナンバーの数々は永遠にアメリカ人の故郷として存在する。
