    Hound Dog Taylorハウンド・ドッグ・テイラー

    ダーティなスライド・プレイ、下卑たヴォーカル、チューニングの狂いなど関係なく突っ走る演奏——ここにブルースの全てがあるといっても過言ではない。６本指で有名なシンガー／ギタリスト、ハウンド・ドッグ・テイラー。そのプレイに衝撃を受けたブルース・イグロアが、彼のレコードを出したいがために＜アリゲーター＞レーベルを興したというエピソードも有名だ。
    注目すべきはその編成だ。テイラーとバックを務めるハウスロッカーズは、ギター２本にドラムという変則的トリオで活動。テイラーの歪みきったギターを中心に子分２人が暴れる無秩序なブギーは、元祖ロー・ファイの名にふさわしい。後のジョン・スペンサーに影響を与えたことも頷けるだろう。
