    キッズ・グループの先駆けである。グループ名どおり、メンバーは14〜5歳の子供だけで構成されているが、大人顔負けの実力とスター性に恵まれ、50年代に爆発的な人気を獲得した。なかでもリードをとるフランキー・ライモンは、無垢な魅力をたたえたボーイ・ソプラノで、一度聴いたら忘れられないような存在感を放っている。
    代表曲はなんといっても「Why Do Fools Fall In Love」。映画『アメリカン・グラフィティ』にも使われたこのナンバーは、ロックンロールのポップ感覚も内包したオールディーズの代名詞ソングだ。
    なお、フランキー・ライモンはドラッグの過剰摂取により、26歳という若さで亡くなっている。
