    05年にメジャー・デビュー・アルバム『フッドラム・ロックVol.１』を完成させた５人組ミクスチャー・バンド、エル・パス。ベース・サウンド（クランクを含む）で有名な土地＝USアトランタをベースに活動を広げる彼らは、ロックとヒップホップを折衷させた音楽性をモットーとする。それはヒップホップ・オリエンテッドなザ・ルーツのスムーズさと、ハード・ロック・オリエンテッドなリンキン・パークやブラッドハウンド・ギャングとの中道を縫うような音楽性である。
    マッシュ・アップやクロスオーヴァーという言葉が頻出している音楽業界において、彼らはけして珍しいタイプの音楽的気質を標榜しているワケじゃないが、そのソリッドなまでに自分たちのミュージック道を追求する姿勢は誉れ高いものだろう。
    それにしても、アトランタにはエル・パスがいたり、リル・ジョンという猛烈オヤジがいたり、さらにマス・インフルエンスやサイケ・オリガミといったアングラ・ヒップホップ・アーティストがいたりと、かの地は大変興味深い土地柄を持っていますな。
