    デトロイト・テクノ界でもっともミステリアスなふたり組、ドレクシヤ。彼らは、93年に＜SHOCK WAVE＞レーベルから「ディープ・シー・ドゥエラー」でデビューした。その後、＜UNDERGROUND RESISTANCE＞＜SOMEWHERE IN DETROIT＞＜WARP＞＜REPHLEX＞といった多様なレーベルを渡り歩き、深海を探索するかのような冷たくてディープなエレクトロ作品を続々と発表。だが、97年作『クエスト』のリリースと同時に突然引退を宣言。正体不明のまま海中へと姿を消してしまう。しかし、99年作『ネプチューンズ・レイアー』で再び深海から急浮上し多くのファンの歓喜を誘った（とはいえ、ドレクシヤはこの時すでに片割れジェイムズ・スティンソンのソロ・プロジェクトだった模様）。——すべての作品が一貫して「海」をコンセプトにしており、TR-808／TR-909の硬質なビートとアナログ・シンセの不気味な発信音が、聴く者を暗黒の海溝へと誘っていく。
    ジェイムズ・スティンソンはその後、さまざまな名義を使い分け猛烈な活躍を見せるが、02年に没する。現在はジェイムズの兄弟タイリー・スティンソンがその意思を引き継ぎ、アクアノウツとして「海」をテーマとしたエレクトロ作品を＜UNDERGROUND RESISTANCE＞を中心にリリースしている。
    ちなみに、96年に＜WARP＞レーベルから『エレクトロ・ワールド』をリリースしたエレクトロイズの正体が、実はドレクシヤであったことはあまり知られていない。
