    Albert Leeアルバート・リー

    英国出身ながらもカントリー・ギターのスタンダードを作り出した人物。ブリティッシュ・カントリー・ロック・バンド、ヘッズ・ハンズ＆フィートを経て渡米し、エミルー・ハリス＆ホット・バンドのギタリストに抜擢。ジェイムズ・バートンという名ギタリストの後釜ながらも、超絶的な速弾きと個性的なピッキング・スタイルは前任者を圧倒し、一躍注目を浴びた。その後も、エヴァリー・ブラザーズやエリック・クラプトンのバンドで活躍し、80年代にはカントリー・ピッカーの第一人者として知られるようになる。
    ソロ・アーティストとしても数作発表しているが、なかでも有名なのがエミルー・ハリス、ドン・エヴァリー、ロドニー・クロウエル、リッキー・スキャッグスなど豪華ゲストが参加した79年の１stソロ『Hiding』。さまざまなカヴァーを生んだ名曲「Country Boy」が収録されたこの作品は、ギター・プレイだけでなく渋いヴォーカリストとしてのリーの側面も垣間見れる。ハスキーな歌声が心に沁みるだろう。
