    アトランタで出会ったラッパーのショーン・ポール（レゲエの方ではない）とJ・ボーのふたりはヤングブラッズを結成。99年にデビュー・アルバム『アゲインスト・ダ・グレイン』を発表した。そのアルバムではダーティ・サウスの潮流に忠実な、汚れきったバウンス・チューンを多く披露した。が、正直作品がセールス的にビッグ・ヒットを記録したわけではない。ヤングブラッズの名前が世界に轟いたのは、もう少しあとになってから。今をときめくリル・ジョンがプロデュースしたシングル「デム！」が超絶ヒットを記録したのである。そのシングルが発売された02年当時は思わぬ伏兵の参上、といった趣だったのが記憶に新しい。また、ピンプ・カップを片手にするリル・ジョンがクランク・センセーションを巻き起こすキッカケになったのは（諸説あるだろうが）このシングルの力に頼るところが大きかったのではないか。そういう意味でも、ヒップホップの歴史的（とは大げさだが）なシングルと言ってしまってもいいだろう。
    その後に２nd『ドランキング・パートナーズ』（02年）を発表。もちろんヒットさせたが、05年現在、しばらくヤングブラッズの音沙汰がないのが少し気になる。
