    Vince Guaraldiヴィンス・ガラルディ

    サンフランシスコ出身のVince Guaraldiは一時期偉大なるウディ・ハーマンと活動したあと、カル・ジェイダーのラテン・ジャズ・バンドのピアニストになった。彼の演奏スタイルはビル・エヴァンズのような美しくメロディアスな鍵盤さばきとラムゼイ・ルイスのような大衆にアピールするファンキーなノリの両方を持ち合わせていた。Vince Guaraldiは後に自ら率いるトリオを結成し63年に「Cast Your Fate to the Wind」というトップ40ヒットも記録している。Vince Guaraldiの最高傑作と言えばやはりクリスマスという祝祭にちょっぴり傷心のほろ苦さを味付けした『A Charlie Brown Christmas』だろう。76年に48歳という若さでこの世を去ってしまったVince Guaraldiだが、音楽史上に残した足跡は大きい。
