    95年、『アメリカン・サイズ』でアフター・グランジのミュージック・シーンを形成するがごとく出現したヴェルーカ・ソルト。ニナ・ゴードン、ルイーズ・ポストの女性２人をフロントに立てていることから、一瞬華やかなバンド像を思い浮かべてしまうが、その実ラウドな音を渦巻かせるタフなグループだ。ヘヴィなギター・リフとパワー・コードの大波に、時折シャウトする男勝りなヴォーカル。随所にちりばめられたハード・ロックのテイストは、グランジ・シーン亡き後のリスナーを惹きつけた。
    97年には、ポップ志向を推し進めたアルバム『エイト・アームズ・トゥ・ホールド・ユー』を発表し、ヘヴィさとキュートさを併せもったバンド・カラーの確立に成功。だがその後、ゴードンとポストの確執が露呈、グループは分裂を余儀なくされた。00年、ゴードンは『トゥナイト・アンド・ザ・レスト・オブ・マイ・ライフ』でソロ・アーティストとして再始動し、ポストを中心としたヴェルーカ・ソルトは１年半ぶりとなるアルバム『Resolver』を発表した。
