    Vertical Horizonヴァーティカル・ホライズン

    マット・スカンナルとキース・ケインによる男性デュオとしてスタートし、92年に『There and Back Again』でデビューを果たす。初期こそアコースティックを基調としたライト感覚なロックを奏でていたが、メンバーを加入させ４人組になると共に、大陸的なアメリカン・ロック・サウンドを指向。99年にはシングル「Everything You Want」がビルボードのNo.１を獲得した。
    この手のサウンドって、こと日本では敬遠されがちな傾向にあるが、グッド・メロディにグッド・ハーモニー、エンドレスに続くアメリカのハイウェイを想起させるスケールのデカいロックは、何の気負いも衒いもなく真っ正直で好感がもてる。いつでもシーンにいて欲しいグループだ。
