    "Music From The Death Factory"——スロッビング・グリスルが提示したスローガンである。どう訳したらいいだろうか。“死”製造所からの音楽？　死を司る工場（＝墓場）から生み出される音楽？　とにかく過激かつ偏執的なこのフレーズは、彼らの音楽をそのまま物語り、後々まで語り継がれることとなる。
    奇人、ジェネシス・P・オリッジによるアート・パフォーマンス集団、クーム・トランスミッションズを母体として誕生したスロッビング・グリスル（意味は"脈打つ男根"）。77年に１stアルバム『セカンド・アニュアル・リポート』を自主レーベル＜インダストリアル＞からリリースする。レーベル名からもわかる通り彼らのサウンド及び姿勢は後のインダストリアル・シーンに多大な影響を及ぼしたのである。リズム・ボックスやテープ・コラージュを多用した前衛的なサウンド・プロダクションと、シーン及び社会への辛辣な批評精神を仕込んだ歌詞——まさに"死"というキーワードが息づいている世界は、"反動としての音楽"であり、それはつまり真のパンクと呼ぶにふさわしいものだ。
    81年に"任務終了"と銘打って解散。その後、ジェネシスとピーター・クリストファースンはサイキックTVとして活動を始める。
