    ギタリストのディック・テイラーがローリング・ストーンズのオリジナル・メンバーだったという事実と、この老齢（失敬）バンドが今もってオーストラリア全土で発売禁止されているという現状は除いて、プリティ・シングスのもっともクールなところは、63年の結成以来ずっと一緒に活動し続けているということ。60年代に勃興したブリティッシュ・インヴェイジョン時代のバンドとして、おそらくもっとも不当に低評価されている彼らは、40年近くにわたりカルト・ヒーローであり続けている。彼らのサイケデリック／ガラージ・ロックのスタイルが、彼らよりも有名な数多くのバンドたちより、常に革新的で多様的だったのは間違いない事実だ。そんなプリティ・シングスは自身のライヴ・パフォーマンスで、長いバンド活動の間に辿ってきた音楽史の全貌を見せてくれる。
    でもって前述したが、キャリア初期の骨太ソウルが混ざったパンク・サウンドから、アシッドな『S.F.ソロウ』（68年：音楽史上初のフルレングスのコンセプト・アルバム）まで、プリティ・シングスの音楽のなにもかもが“実験の証明”に他ならない。そんな彼らが99年にリリースした『レイジー・ビフォア・ビューティー』は、ソリッドで均整の取れた、90年代とはなんなのか明示する（ある種革新的な）作品である。実際のところ、それは逆さまから見た60年代の姿だったのだ。
