The Icicle Worksジ・アイシクル・ワークス
リヴァプール３大イアンのひとり、イアン・マクナブ（残り２人はマッカロクとブロウディ、念ため）を中心に結成されたロック・バンド。かのゲイリー・ニューマン、バウハウスを擁したダーク系レーベル＜ベガーズ・バンケット＞より、88年にリリースした『ジ・アイシクル・ワークス』が代表作。そこで聴ける、ニューウェイヴ特有の湿り声で歌われる60's風スウィート・メロディ、シンセ類を多用した大仰ポップ・サウンド——は後々隆盛を誇るブリット・ポップの礎となったのである。
