Snooky Pryorスヌーキー・プライアー
大都会シカゴで活動しながらも、頑固一徹ダウンホームで武骨なプレイを標榜したハーピスト。知名度という点からはリトル・ウォルターやサニー・ボーイ・ウィリアムソンIIには劣るが、実力では一歩もひけをとらない。
初期の録音では、サニー・ボーイI譲りの野太い音を生音で出していたが、ブルースの電化が進んだ50年代後期には、アンプリファイド・ハープをバリバリ吹きまくった。特に「Boogie Twist」での泥臭いシカゴ・スタイルは身震いどころでは済まされない、悶絶ものだ！
60年代初頭に一度引退するが、70年代には復活。以来、現在に至るまで精力的な活動を展開している。
