    15歳という若さで95年にオーストラリアからデビューしたシルバーチェアー。ニルヴァーナ／パール・ジャムの狂騒的ブームのあとに登場した彼らは“グランジ新世代”と謳われ、その美形なルックスと共に人気を得た。重量感あるグルーヴ＋憂鬱なメロディは、若さゆえの線の細さを逆手に取った青白くシリアスな雰囲気をかもしながら、聴くものの胸に去来する。
    99年には３作目となる『ネオン・ボールルーム』を発表。ポスト・グランジというプレッシャーをはね除けた彼らなだけに、今後もよりいっそうの屈強サウンドを鳴り響かせてくれるだろう。
