    アメリカはマサチューセッツ州ノーサンプトンにて、91年に結成。ジョー・パーニス（g&vo）、スティーヴン・ディソールニアーズ（b&vo）を中心とした４人組。グランジ・ロックの総本山である＜サブ・ポップ＞レーベルからアルバム・リリースするなど、一般的に彼らはハードロック系オルタナ・バンドと認識されがちである。だが、その実態はザ・バンドのような伝統的アメリカン・ロックをこよなく愛するカントリー・ロック・バンドであった。ゾンビーズのコリン・ブランストーンのような、ほろ苦く甘いヴォーカルが、アメリカン・ルーツ音楽を一身に背負ったかのようなミドル・テンポ・チューンをバックに、ゆったりと響く。
