インディーズ時代から「血中黒人度」の高いファンクネス・グルーヴィ・ナンバーを量産していた、札幌出身の２人組。荒木晋（g&vo）と小川敦（b&vo）から成り、それぞれが作詞／作曲／メイン・ヴォーカルをこなすというスタイルで、荒木はジャミロクアイやレニー・クラヴィッツにも通じるアッパーなポップ・チューンを得意とし、かたや小川はテリー・キャリアー風のフォーキーで味わい深いナンバーを聴かせた。
本人たちがフェイヴァリット・アーティストにプリンス、ジミ・ヘンドリックス、スライ＆ザ・ファミリーストーンなどを挙げていたが、彼らの音楽スタイルはソウル／ファンク／70'sフォーク／サイケデリック・ロックを、バンド名通りスープのようにじっくり煮つめて、その旋律の上に日本語をきらめかせたもの。それでいて日本人離れしたセクシャルなムードもたたえていたのだが、今思えば登場するのが５年早かった……。95年に発表されたアルバム『future leader』なんぞは、今のソウル／R&Bシーンでこそピカピカに輝きそうなんだがなあ。
バンド中後期は打ち込みの導入／シングルのポップ度強化などで奮闘したが、田沼徹浩（g&vo）を加えて３人で活動→小川が脱退して荒木＋田沼で活動という変遷を経て、結果としてフェイドアウト的に活動休止。……本当に惜しかった（涙）。
