    04年の大型新人として話題を集めている女性シンガー・ソング・ライター。
    アメリカ・ヴァージニア州で日系人の父親とイタリア系の母親の間に生まれた。幼い頃に両親が離婚し、お互いの家庭を行き来する生活を送ったため、一ヶ所に定住できない性格が形成されたと自ら語っている。その後地元のバンドに参加、独学でピアノを学び曲を書き始め、やがてソロ活動をスタートさせ04年にアルバム『ハプンスタンス』でデビュー。自らを“優柔不断な仕切り屋で、救いようのないロマンチスト”と称する彼女は、日々の感情の揺らぎを感情豊かに表現。切々と歌う低めの声は彼女が影響を受けたというキャロル・キング、ロバータ・フラック、ジェームス・テイラーを彷彿とさせ、シリアスでありながら心地よいサウンドを生み出している。
