    97年に、元Kyussのジョシュア・オム（vo&g）とアルフレッド・ヘルナンデス（dr）によって結成された。98年に1stアルバム『Queens of the Stone Age』をリリース。乾ききった砂のような「ジャリジャリ」したファズ・ギター・サウンドと、白目を剥いて叩いているんじゃないかと思うほどかったるい感じのリズム、さらにはアージ・オーヴァーキルにも通じるドライなポップ感が印象的なロックを展開している。00年にはマーク・レナガン（元スクリーミング・トゥリーズ）、ロブ・ハルフォード（元ジューダス・プリースト）を迎え、2ndアルバム『R指定』を発表した。
