    Prefuse 73プレフューズ・セブンティスリー

    サヴァス＋サヴァラス名義などの活動でも知られる、米アトランタ出身のスコット・ヘレンによるソロ・ユニット、プレフューズ73。サヴァス＋サヴァラスは生楽器を主体としたバンド形態であるが、このユニットではプログラミング・サウンドによるエレクトロニック・ヒップホップを繰り広げている。
    01年に１stアルバム『ヴォーカル・スタディズ＋アップロック・ナレーティブス』を英＜WARP＞より発表。インテリジェント／IDMにも通じる、アンビエントな音世界が話題を呼んだ。03年には、トミー・ゲレロもゲスト参加した２ndアルバム『ワン・ワード・エクスティングイッシャー』をリリースする。さらに05年、ウータン・クランのゴーストフェイスやGZAらをフィーチャーした『サラウンデッド・バイ・サイレンス』を発表。この作品で言えるのは、プレフューズは自身の感情を“ネタを切り刻んで再構築”という一連の楽曲制作運動のなかで叙情しているということである。エレクトロニカと邂逅したビートは冷たくてプラスティックのように無機質な質感を生むだけではない。彼はなんともエモーショナル、そしてサウダージにも満ちた“宇宙的ロマンティシズム”を自身の音世界で演出しているのである。
