    Pinetop Perkinsパイントップ・パーキンス

    オーティス・スパンの後を受け継ぎ、マディ・ウォーターズ・バンドのピアニストとして70年代に活躍したパイントップ・パーキンス。しかし、その経歴をヒモ解いてみれば、なんと30年代からミュージシャンとして活動を始め、40年代にはロバート・ナイトホークともコンビを組んでいたという大ベテランなのだ。
    それはともかく、マディ・バンドで名を上げたパーキンスは、70年代中頃からポツリポツリとソロ作を発表し始めるが、90年代に入ると老いてますます盛ん、いきなり精力的な活動を展開し、ライヴ盤や弾き語り集などを次々に発表。古いデルタ・ブルースから生粋のシカゴ・スタイルまで、非常にヴァラエティに富んだピアノ・プレイを聴かせる。現在も最古参のブルース・マンとして活躍中だ。
