    80年代アメリカ・ポップス界を駆け抜けた女性シンガー。元々はL.A.レイカーズのチアガールの振り付け師兼ダンサーだったが、後に歌手デビューを果たす。「ストレイト・アップ」「フォーエヴァー・ユア・ガール」「冷たいハート」などビルボード・チャート第１位曲多数。グラミー賞、エミー賞など受賞歴も多い。
    歌手引退後は振り付けの仕事を多くこなし、あのジャネット・ジャクソンの一連のシングル曲の振り付けも彼女によるものだとか。近年では、米オーディション番組『アメリカン・アイドル』の審査員としても活躍中。アメリカン・ショー・ビジネスの魂を次世代に継承している存在、とも言える。
