New York Dollsニューヨーク・ドールズ
70年代前半に登場したニューヨーク・ドールズは、後に出現するパンク・ロックに多大な影響を及ぼした偉大なるグラム・ロック・バンドである。夜な夜な艶やかなメイクときらびやかな衣装に身を包み、カオティックなロックンロール・スタイルを確立。デヴィッド・ヨハンセンの吠えるようなワイルド・ヴォイスは、ジョニー・サンダースとシルヴェイン・シルヴェインの繰りだす荒々しいギター・サウンドと完全なマッチングをみせ、かつてなかった「ロックの刺激」を生み出したのだ。また、60年代に流行ったガール・グループの観念を取り入れたり、さらにひねりを加えた過激でいかがわしいパフォーマンスを行ったりして、常にオーディエンスを煙に巻くようなところが魅力的でもあった。——その、全てをあざ笑うかのような姿勢や、斬新で骨太なサウンドは現在でも多くのファンを獲得している。
