    Mountainマウンテン

    クリーム一連の名作をプロデュースして名を挙げたフェリックス・パパラルディ（b）が、巨漢ギタリスト、レスリー・ウエストと共に結成したハード・ロック・バンド。フェリックスとレスリーの火を吹くようなインター・プレイの応酬に、"70年代のクリーム"と賞賛された。であるからして、このバンドの醍醐味はライヴにあると言ってもいい。確かに「ミシシッピ・クイーン」に代表されるスタジオ録音もいいが、アルバム『Flowers Of Evil（悪の華）』のライヴ組曲は悶絶モノだ。これぞハード・ロック！　といった演奏がスリル満点に展開される。特に、レスリーのプレイは、マイケル・シェンカーなどの鋼鉄系ギタリストに絶大なる影響を与えた。
    バンドは72年に突如として解散。そして83年には、フェリックスが妻に射殺されるという悲劇的な最期を迎えている。
    なお、84年・96年と２回に渡り、レスリーを中心に再結成を果たしている。
