    Mint Conditionミント・コンディション

    名プロデューサー・ティーム＝ジャム＆ルイスに見出されたミネアポリスの６人組、ミント・コンディション。90年代においては珍しいスタイルのヴォーカル＆インストゥルメンタル・グループであり、歌／ 演奏の他にも、ソングライティング〜プロデュースまですべてを自分たちでまかなう実力派集団である。
    91年に『ミーント・トゥ・ビー・ミント』でデビューを果たし、以降93年の『フロム・ザ・ミント・ファクトリー』、96年の『デフィニション・オブ・ア・バンド』と良作を積み重ねていく。デジタル主導の時代にあって、彼らの生演奏主体のサウンド群はフレッシュであり、また、その暖かみのあるプロダクション群と極上のファンク・グルーヴたちは根っからのR＆Bファンを歓喜させた。しかし４作目となる『ライフズ・アクアリアム』では、より今風のポップ・サウンドにアプローチ。だが、安い評価しか得ることができなかったのが残念なところ。今後への期待がますます高まるばかりだ。
