    ハウス・リスナーなら、この名前を知らないはずがない。マーシャル・ジェファーソン。シカゴ・ハウスのオリジネイターであり、ハウスの前進に多大な功績を残した人物である。そして、それを物語るように、80年代のシカゴから届けられた名曲には、必ずと言ってよいほど彼の名前が記されていた。
    武骨でマッドなアシッド・トラックから、美しい旋律による繊細なヴォーカルものまで、幅広いスタイルで類稀なる才能を発揮。とくに、シカゴ・ハウスの総本山＜Trax Records＞から発表された86年の「Move Your Body」は、ハウス・ミュージックの歴史を語るうえで、必ず挙げなくてはならない永遠の超名曲だ。その他にも、Virgo、Sleezy D、Jungle Wonz、Herculesなどの名義で多数の傑作を生み出した。
