    MCやDJ、そしてプロデューサーとして、ディギン・イン・ザ・クレイツ（DITC）・クルーに属すロード・フィネスは、ヒップホップにおける最も影響力のあるアーティストのひとりとしての立場を確立してきた。サウス・ブロンクスで生まれ育ったネイティヴ・ニューヨカーである彼は、クラシック『ファンキー・テクニシャン』（90年）で華々しくデビュー。作り込まれたラギッドなビートとジャズやソウル、ファンクなどから用いたスムースなサンプル・ワーク、そして知的なリリックは、イースト・コースト・サウンド、つまり広義的に解釈するとヒップホップの発展／拡大において重要な一翼を担ってきた。また、ノトーリアス・B.I.G.やファット・ジョー、O.C.、CNNら多くのビッグ・ネームにビートを提供してきた彼は、瞬く間に人気プロデューサーとなった。
