    ソウルとブルースの狭間を行くシンガー。ゴスペルをバックグラウンドとした粘着質のヴォーカルの味わいは格別だ。
    出世作は63年の「Part Time Love」。重厚なバックに導かれて、テイラーが緊迫感をもった声で歌い出した瞬間に「勝負あり」のゴスペル・ブルースである。このナンバーで知名度を上げたテイラーは以降、サザン・ソウル色を強めながらも確実にスケール・アップしていき、80年代まで現役バリバリに活動し続けた。
    97年には、インディーズながら久々の新作『You're Looking Good』をリリースしている。
