    若いころのクインシー・ジョーンズのプロデュースによる、レスリー・ゴーアの「涙のバースデイ・パーティー」は、ガール・グループ全盛期にかなり成功した曲のうちのひとつ。甘やかされたお嬢さんっぽいイメージのゴアは、他のちょっと格好をつけたガールズ・グループの生意気で反逆精神に満ちた感じとはまったく逆のイメージだ。美しいハーモニー、みずみずしいオーケストラ・アレンジのサウンドは、ピュアなポップスといった趣き。残念ながら彼女の他の曲はそれほど売れなかった。ただひとつ言えば、ティーンエイジャーにありがちな文句たらたらでメソメソした感じさえ除けば、ちゃんと音程をキープできる素晴らしい声が印象に残るのだが…。
