    ジャーマン・ロック黄金時代を築き上げたタンジェリン・ドリームやアシュ・ラ・テンペルにてドラマーとして活躍した経験をもつ伝説のシンセサイザー奏者、クラウス・シュルツ。彼は楽曲演奏において、人間と機械の気配を完全に消し去ることで神憑かった恍惚感を生み出し、高次の精神世界を創出することに成功した。『Moondawn』（76年）、『Mirage』（77年）、『Body Love』（77年）、『Dune』（79年）を始めとする数多くの傑作を発表。70年代中期に、フレーズを記憶するためのシーケンサーとシンセを用いてビートを刻むという偉大な成果を残し、その先鋭的な実験は後世のテクノ・アーティストにも甚大な影響を及ぼした。
    80年代初頭からは、長年慣れ親しんだアナログ・シンセをあっさりと捨て去り、デジタル・シンセ／サンプラー／コンピュータといった最新機器の導入により、さらに飛躍した宇宙空間を創造。90年代はフランクフルトのアンビエント狂、ピート・ナムルックとのコラボレーションなどで精力的な活動を展開した。ちなみに、喜多郎の師匠としても有名である。
